So, uh. This is a compilation of some terms, which I guess will be showing up on an upcoming exam, next week. These are copied verbtim from a terrible PowerPoint slideshow, so don't blame me if the definitions are weird.
Office Automation
- Information Technology: IT is commonly associated with Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The technology involving the development, maintenance, and use of computer systems, software, and networks for the processing and distribution of data.
- Word Processor: A word processor is software or a device that allows users to create, edit and print documents.
- Spreadsheet: Spreadsheets present tables of values arranged in rows and columns that can be manipulated mathematically using both basic and complex arithmetic operations and functions.
- Slideshow presentation: is a series of pictures or pages of information (slides), often displayed on a large screen using a video projector.
- World Wide Web: is basically a system of internet servers that support cpecially formatted documents.
- Alignment: It is a term used to describe how text is placed on the screen.
- Animations: is a simulation of movement created by a series of illustrations or photographs displayed in rapid succession.
- Cell: In spreadsheet applications, a cell is abox in which you can enter a single piece of data.
- Slide: It is essentially a single screen of information, able to display information, able to display text, charts and images.
- Slide layouts: slide layouts contain formatting, positioning, and placeholder boxes fro all of the content that appears on a slide.
- Headers, footers and footnotes: Headers and footers are very useful for adding a standard heading, page numbers, and author's name, the date and so on, to a document.
- Spacing: The line spacing definition refers to the amount of blank space between the lines of text in a document.
- Format: A rich text file format allows formatting options such as setting fonts type, styles (bold, italic, underline, etc).
- Formulas: A formula is an expression which calculates the value of a cell.
- Functions: Functions are predefined foruulas and are already available in Excel.
- Icons: smal picture thtat represents an object or program.
- Paragraph spacing: Just as you can format spacing between lines in your document, you can choose spacing options between each paragraph.
- Upper case: Uppercase characters area capital letters; lowercase characters are small letters.
- Margins: In word processing, the strips of white space around the edge of the paper.
- Bullet point:: A small graphical element used to highlight or itemize a list. Range: In spreadsheet applications, one or more contiguous cells.
